How does it function?

The methodology is really simple. And tried & tested over years! While still dwelling at Lençóis, me and Hélia Soares, the owner of the artful and cozy guest house “Casa da Hélia” and certainly the most upright and ethical exception among the local tourism employers, have developed a different approach to tourism and called it “Sensitive Tourism”.

It functions with diverse elements, which are put together any way that interested persons want.

And it’s precisely in this proven way that I now continue on a much larger scale. That is, not “only” within Bahia and the Chapada Diamantina anymore, but on request all over South America (especially Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Peru Ecuador and Colombia).

Some of the elements at our disposal are:

• Contact with unspoiled nature

• Contact with the country folk

• Contact with descendants of runaway slaves

• Contact with Native Americans

• (Pre-Columbian) History

• Regional and traditional rural village life

• Regional agriculture

• Waterfalls

• Caves

• Native American rock paintings

• Mountainous areas, table mountains, peaks

• Pre-historic excavation sites

...and that list is far from being complete!

We exchange ideas, discuss possibilities and then you choose. All via e-mail. On D-Day we meet as agreed. That might be at your Brazilian airport of arrival, the bus station of a small town in the Chapada Diamantina, or any other place in South America.
