Ecotourism has become a global label which also in the Chapada Diamantina (Diamond Highlands) in the very center of Bahia stands for fat profits. If additionally polished with the tourism spin doctors’ magic word trekking it’s a guaranteed winner! And: completely en vogue.

Yet, really ecologically correct traveling ends, where hiking boots and bicycle pedals are exchanged for the jets of a plane. That’s the decision crossroads, where our wanderlust gets us in a dilemma. Because no doubt: it’s rather hard to get to South America by pedal boat.
